Hello! My name is Kelly Zellerman. I teach 4 th grade at SPPCS.

I went to SIUE and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary

Education K-9 with endorsements in social sciences. I am also Reading Recovery certified. I have previously taught reading to grades K-5,

kindergarten, and first grade.

I was born and raised in Waterloo. I still live in Waterloo with my boyfriend,

Josh, two daughters, Stella and Nora, and four dogs, Duke, Margot, Finley, and Koda. Margot, Finley, and Koda are all blood-related sisters! We got

one and couldn’t stop! Being from a small town many people may know my families- the Bachelier’s and Gant’s. In fact, my grandmother, Mary Gant,

was the Gibault secretary for many years (a long time ago). You also may have seen my face around town when I worked managing Stubborn

German Brewing Company or at JV’s Downtown Bar and Grill.

I spend a lot of time with my daughters. We like to go for bike rides, play

outside, shop, play cards, and bake together. I enjoy interior decorating, jeeping, going to sports events and concerts, going out to eat, getting my

nails done, drawing and coloring, watching movies, and reading.

I love Halloween! My favorite place to eat is Casa Romero or Bill Gianino’s. I love

junior mints and dots. My favorite color is pink or black. Throughout the year I definitely need your help! We have several class

holiday parties, along with reward parties, and special projects. From time to time, I will ask for donations for such activities. Sign up sheets will be

emailed or sent home and you can choose if you’d like to donate something.

In my classroom, we are a family. I like to make time to have ‘heart to heart’ talks with my class. It is a time for us to share feelings and emotions, peaks

and pits, and just anything on our minds. I consider myself a laid back and easy-going teacher, but with plenty of structure and high expectations. I like

to have fun with my students, be approachable for them, and make our classroom a comfortable place. I encourage self- confidence in each

student! No question should go unasked. No mistake is wrong! (They even correct me sometimes!) I want my students to know it is always ok to not

understand something- that’s why I’m here! We’ll do it until we get it! Everyone is treated fairly and with respect. I will help each and every child

with whatever he/she needs. I hope your child comes to my class each day happy and excited. I will strive to make the year an unforgettable one while

caring for each and every student like my own child!
